  1. Nicely done! There is definitely a lot of cool tiger/hyena/wolf stuff going on here.

Watch the stripes. Nature is a lot more random. A lot of those shapes are the same width, and they get very repetitive, particularly over his front shoulder. Then again, I could also be overanalyzing it.

  2. Nice job man, I see you decided not to put him in a cave. Depending on the type of skin he has, maybe some fur sticking up on the back of his neck would make him look even more threatening.

  3. I agree with what has been said. That it is great, and the suggestions. The stripes kind of look painted on by people, and not really apart of the fur coat. Yes, stripes are random, but they also follow patterns. As far as the fur goes, it should most definitely be puffed up. He's trying to make himself look bigger right? Don't forget his tail. The base of the tail on animals always puffs up too. Perhaps rotating and lying the ears flat will help as well.

  4. I think the render of this is really great. The anatomy is really showing since he's like scrawny/bulky and its really believable. Very predatory.

The only thing I am not sure about is the ears. Most animals (as far as I know) have front facing ears that are rotatable for better sound location. From what I can tell it looks like his ears are pointed back. and maybe he can rotate them back that far (way cool) but I kind of want to see in indication of where the ear opens up into the head.

  5. Cool hyena thing, Hunter! You can really feel dimension in those forms - he looks quite solid and muscular. I think you've got some nice subtle color variation in that fur. People have already mentioned the stripes, and I do think you could vary them in some ways to make it look more interesting. You could push the shape contrast and widen a few of them a lot more, and then slightly blend some of the smaller ones into the fur. It looks like you were already starting to do that, so just keep heading in that direction!
