Michelle Farrell - Character Design Roughs

  1. Your basic shapes are nice to determine the shape language/personality of the characters. It's cool how you're looking at different cultures, too. The dog sketches are interesting!

  2. Good process and some interesting explorations. (You can wait until we focus on creatures to explore the wild dogs though.) Generally the heads could be smaller and figures larger. Otherwise they have kind of a juvenile or cartoon appearance. I would also explore varying the poses a little more, turning the figures to the side a bit to emphasize different shapes instead of having them mostly symmetrical and front-facing. Some more interesting & dynamic shapes should come out of that.

  3. P.S.: The juvenile proportions are fine for the young characters, like Nafai & Luet, just remember the book describes Nafai as large, basically fully grown except maybe not as muscular as Elemak.
